Philip Sheridan

Sheridan was a professional soldier and the Union's most successful cavalry commander. After seeing military action in the KansasMissouri border wars, he led Civil War infantry. He was promoted and took command of the army's cavalry in Virginia. As a cavalry leader, he helped defeat Robert E. Lee at Appomattox.
